Local author and veteran, Peter Taylor, returns to the library to discuss two new books: The Tuscarora Trail, the final book in the Vietnam Advisor Series, and The Planet's Revenge: The Katy Sterling Saga Continues, the final installment in a space age naval saga. Registration is optional.

The Tuscarora Trail:
Over fifty years have elapsed since the end of the Vietnam War. The effects of the Covid pandemic has finally waned and two old soldiers once again tackle a long distance hike along the Tuscarora Trail from Virginia through West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Along the way they reminisce about their times in Vietnam together those many years ago. Along the rugged trail they hike with young people and share their stories of that long ago war and offer their fatherly advice to inexperienced hikers that they meet. It is a cathartic experience for both of them as they share life experiences. They tell stories about that distant war and meet fellow veterans along the way, sharing their stories and their traditional “Welcome Home” to their fellow veterans. This novel is the final book in the Paul Tyler “Vietnam Advisor series”. It allows the reader closure on some of the previously told stories. As a long distance backpacker it provides the reader with a wonderful overview of the beautiful and rugged 250 mile alternate to the Appalachian Trail.
The Planet's Revenge: The Katy Sterling Saga Continues:
After being marooned on the Planet Erie, Acting Lieutenant Commander Katy Sterling and her mixed naval and Marine Corps component are rescued and returned to her home planet, Destiny. After a wonderful celebration Katy Sterling returns home and resumes her position as Lady HomeFall, the ruler of the enormous HomeFall Estate. Katy is appointed to a number of important positions in the planet's parliament as her prestige as a decorated naval officer and a leading member of the planet's legislative body continues to grow. She is honored by having the first of a new class of military spaceships named in her honor. The DNS Sterling is outfitted for space duty and Katy is selected as the DNS Sterling's first commander. Lieutenant Commander Katy Sterling is sent out into space to search out the various pirate bands that have plundered Destiny and other planets for centuries. Her mission is to free enslaved persons and destroy the pirate bases of operation. Returning from these successful missions she identifies those who have previously tried to assassinate her and uncovers the continuing threats against her and HomeFall. Throughout the novel is the continuing thread of her growing romantic relationship with Kevin RavensPeake, the cousin of her Naval Academy roommate, Lady Sandy RavensPeake. The Bridgeport Public Library is located in Bridgeport, WV. The City of Bridgeport began providing financial support for the library in the mid-1970s. The library was then located on the top floor of the Benedum Civic Center on Main Street. In 1994 the citizens and businesses of Bridgeport raised over 1.3 million dollars to purchase and renovate the Allstate Insurance building on Johnson Avenue. It then became the Bridgeport Public Library. The library offers a variety of services and resources including books, eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, magazines, online databases, and more!
